Supportive & Palliative Care Service
Helping You Live as Well as Possible
Palliative care is specialised medical care that aims to enhance quality of life for cancer patients and provide support for their family caregivers.
Palliative care is not about giving up. It is about living well, with comfort, dignity, and support.
The Supportive & Palliative Care Service consists of a specialist-led team of doctors and nurses who are professionally trained to work together with the oncologists to help manage symptoms, offer emotional support, and guide care decisions at any stage of cancer.
The service has been internationally recognised as a Designated Centre of Integrated Oncology and Palliative Care by the prestigious European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) since 2018. It is also a member of the Asia Pacific Hospice Network (APHN) and is actively involved in education and scientific research.
When Should Palliative Care Be Involved?
Palliative care can be introduced early and provided alongside active treatments like chemotherapy, radiotherapy, surgery, or other medical therapies.
You might find palliative care helpful if you or your loved one:
Experience pain or symptoms that are hard to manage
Experience breathlessness, fatigue, nausea, anxiety, or poor sleep
Needs help managing emotional and psychological health due to illness
Requires assistance with treatment decisions or future planning
Requires support for family members or caregivers
Early involvement of palliative care has been shown to enhance symptom management, patient satisfaction, and overall quality of life.
